In Acts 20:35 Paul speaks of something that Jesus had said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” Paul spoke this as he was talking about giving and receiving, and as he was saying goodbye to people who were dear to him. Paul gave a lot to and for Jesus. A lot of people gave a lot to help Paul. Many people were blessed because they gave. Many people are still being blessed today by all that giving.

There are various places in the Bible where God tells us that giving is good and will be blessed (Psalm 41:1-3; Proverbs 19:17; Isaiah 58:7-12; Matthew 25:34-40). You may not always be blessed in the way you think, but the blessing is always just that, a blessing! You have freely received from God and there is plenty to go around, so freely give! (2 Corinthians 8:9 & 9:6-12; Philippians 4:19)

Now this next part is for me, since sometimes I don’t like to be helped when I can handle things: When someone offers to give to you, let them! Since it is more blessed to give than to receive, don’t rob someone of a blessing!

In short, give and let others give. God made this to be a good, multiplying kind of blessing.
