In the Bible it says that if you need or want something you can ask God for it. He knows what you need (Matthew 6:31-33). When you ask God for something, you need to ask believing you will receive it (James 1:5-6). But when asking for something, you need to ask for the right thing or you won’t get what you wanted (James 4:3). Sometimes to teach you, God gives you exactly what you wanted, and it turns out you didn’t want it at all.

Well, recently I asked God for wisdom. Specifically I asked to know how to talk about anything and everything, to know exactly what I’m talking about when I do, and to do it in love and not with pride or any other wrong attitude.

So guess what I’ve been getting.

Over the past week or so, there have been different situations from different areas coming up. I’m learning a few completely new things at once, and I’m strengthening some things that I already know. When things started kicking in, I looked up to God and said, “Well, I did ask for this. I’m not sorry.”

Indeed, I’m not sorry. I’m not overwhelmed, but I know this is going to be a process. One day I’m going to need to know something, and I’m going to need the godly wisdom to apply it properly.

Don’t be afraid to ask for something that God wants you to have. Sometimes He’s just waiting for you to ask for it. When He gives it to you, don’t be afraid to take it. He won’t give you more than what He will help you with. Walk with the Heavenly Father, and you won’t get anything more than can be handled when you’re side by side with Him.
