There are a lot of things about life that we cannot control. We don’t choose to be born. We don’t typically choose when or how to die. We don’t get to choose how life happens to us in between.
But we can choose how we respond to these things. We can choose what is important to us and what is not. We can choose how to treat others around us. We can choose what we will do and what we will not do.
You may not choose much of what life gives you, but you may choose how to live that life.
God has given us the wondrous ability of volition. We can choose. God cannot give what He does not have. He can choose. God chooses to love us. He gave us the ability to make that choice in return.
