Yesterday evening during church, we sang the song “I’ll Fly Away” by Albert E. Brumley. The pastor pointed out that we Christians are pretty weird singing songs about death that are upbeat and happy! We anticipate death!

Not that we have a death wish, of course, we just know that death isn’t that bad when you know what and Who are on the other side of it (2 Corinthians 5:1-10). Considering that once we’re in Heaven we won’t have a sin problem anymore and that we’ll get to see God in person, the death appointment looks pretty good! On top of that, when you know that God has things taken care of whether you live or whether you die, both living and dying become so much less scary and worrisome!

For another odd thing over which Christians are supposed to be excited, check out Persecution? Hooray!
