Faith and feelings are not the same thing. You can feel things in connection with your faith, but your feelings are not your faith. Sometimes your feelings will not be in tune with your faith at all.
While it is absolutely possible to feel your faith and to feel God’s presence, feeling those things is not always how it will be. Sometimes you are not going to feel something, but you will need to have faith anyway. Sometimes you are going feel something, but you will need to have faith anyway. Get over your feelings and just have faith. Know and trust that God has things handled.
Yesterday morning we had a special speaker at church. He brought up something interesting. Find passages of Scripture that have to do with faith, and then replace the word “faith” with the appropriate form of the word “feelings.”
See how wrong these are below?
“For without feelings it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God must feel that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently feel Him.” Hebrews 11:6
“… but the just shall live by his feelings.” Habakkuk 2:4
“For by grace are ye saved through feelings…” Ephesians 2:8
It hurts to type those.
Faith and feelings are not the same thing! It is important to know the difference, and if you aren’t sure you can certainly ask God. He’ll show you. He’ll let you know.
Regardless of how you feel, it is always best to follow faith!
