Thanksgiving, the day we give thanks. That doesn’t just mean being happy that you have stuff and people around you. You are giving thanks. But to whom?

You can give thanks to people, to your family and friends that you have around you. “Thank you for being there for me when…” “Thank you for helping me with…” “Thank you for bringing this thing into my life.”

But most importantly you should give thanks to God. He’s the one who gave you your stuff. He’s the one who gave you your friends and family. He’s the whole reason you have the awareness to even be thankful.

So thank you, God, for being there, when others are or when others aren’t. Thank you, God, for giving strength and help and grace and mercy. Thank you, God, for Your love to all of us. Thank you, God, for saving me from death and for giving me life instead. Thank you, God, for the friends and family You’ve placed around me. Thank you, God, for giving me difficult things to teach me, and for helping me see with clear focus through them. Thank you, God.
