There’s been a man out to my house today to look at the effects of foundation issues and fixes. It got me thinking about how important a good foundation is.

When your foundation is crooked, it doesn’t matter how straight and strong you build the house, it will eventually settle. This will cause your house to develop cracks, bulges, slanted floors, and doors that won’t close or won’t stay open. If it’s bad enough you get enough damage to require the repair or rebuilding of parts of your house.

If your foundation isn’t strong, it will slide, slip, and wear away as nature and the weather do what they do over time. It will get uneven, causing your house to settle in much the same way as the previously mentioned foundation. Depending on how bad it is, your house might even change locations on the land.

But when your foundation is strong, straight, and perfectly set, your house can stand a lot easier. Even a poorly built house can stay in one place fairly well when built on a good foundation, though poor buildings are not what you should put on a good foundation.

Sometimes life can be compared to a house. You build your life on and around certain things, and if these things are not good then your life house will fall apart. Take a look at some Scripture references: Matthew 7:24-27, Luke 6:47-49, and 1 Corinthians 3:11.

But remember your foundation is made for a good building to be put on it (1 Corinthians 3:9-17). Be sure you’re on the Solid Rock, and be sure you are building well upon it.
