My pastor often says, “He who aims at nothing almost always hits it.” If you don’t have a clear goal in mind, you may never reach any goal. If you have no clear purpose, then what are you even doing? If you have no clear direction, then where are you even going? If you don’t know what you’re looking for, then how will you know when you’ve found it? If you don’t have a topic, how will you write a blog post? (Yes, that last one happened to be a little extra lesson for me this morning. I’m thanking God for that.)

In life you need clear direction. If you don’t know where you’re going, any road will do. If you don’t know what question to ask, any answer will do.

But Jesus is the Way (John 14:6) and God knows all that you do not (Psalm 139:1-16; Hebrews 4:13). Ask Him for direction. Then don’t neglect to follow it when you receive that direction!

And one more set of verses that come to my mind: Matthew 7:13-15.
