Ah, Thanksgiving! It’s a good day of the year, but not just because of food. It causes us to think about being thankful for what we have. But sometimes we give vague, half-hearted thanks. Sometimes we forget who we’re thanking.

While you’re amid all your preparations and eating, all the conversations and playing, don’t forget to pause for a moment. Take a breath, so to speak, and think of what God has done for and given to you. You can start small, even vaguely, but let that get you started down a path of thankfulness into the rest of the day. Keep up the habit on other days, too. The more you practice the easier it will get.

Remember who you are thanking, and name specific things for which you are thankful. If you think something you name is stupid, it isn’t stupid if you’re really thankful. Notice the big things, notice the little things, and give credit where credit is due.
