As Christians we sometimes forget that we were once sinners. We sometimes label unsaved people as sinners and at times even call them specifically by their sins, acting like we weren’t just like that before we were saved (Titus 3:3).

On top of that, we still sin! Even though we have been forgiven by Jesus and follow Him, we still willfully sin and still have our own specific weaknesses to certain temptations. Just because you’re saved doesn’t mean that you have life easy (Romans 7:15-25; 2 Corinthians 12:7-10). Just because you’re saved doesn’t make it okay or allowable to sin (Romans 5:20-6:7).

So let’s talk about how we think of ourselves and how we think of others, because how we think dictates how we treat people. Aside from being saved, being called to a life of holiness, and being bound for Heaven, Christians not different from anyone else. Saved or unsaved, we’re all humans. We all have struggles. But we who are saved have Jesus with us through our struggles. We have full access to Divine help. Shouldn’t we want others to have that as well? God certainly does (Matthew 11:28-30; John 3:16-17; 1 Timothy 2:4; 2 Peter 3:9), that’s why He offered it to you.

Whenever you think you’re better than someone else (and that’s what you do when you’re pointing out sin without also showing God’s grace and love), remember when you were there (1 Corinthians 6:9-11; Titus 3:3-7). God gave you mercy and grace of all people, so why not anyone else? It isn’t just for you, it’s for everyone!
