God has been moving a lot of things around in my life lately, with His usual care and subtlety. It’s like feeling a breeze blow around me; I can’t see what all God is doing, but I can tell He’s there. I can’t tell what He’s doing or how He’s doing it either, but I can tell things are happening. I’ve been asking God for direction as my life changes, and He’s been giving it to me every step of the way, exactly when I need each bit of direction. He’s been giving me impeccably timed encouragement, too, and I’ve been thanking Him for it!
While not the same thing in context, this breeze analogy makes me think of the time Jesus was talking with Nicodemus in John 3. I like the play on words here in verse 8, since spirit and wind are the same word in Greek. But whether we’re talking about being born again or about God working things out in our lives, comparing God’s work to the wind does help make things a little more relatable. I also find the analogy pleasant, especially when the Wind feels like a balmy breeze.
