Sometimes when someone around us is really happy, it makes us happy. When someone has good news to share, we like to share in the happiness that this news brings. We like to be there for and support our loved ones, whether they be friends or family.
Sometimes when someone around is is really sad, it makes us sad. When someone has bad news to share, we don’t like the feeling of being sad, but we still like to be there for and support our loved ones.
Just like we can be happy with and for someone, we can be sad with and for them, too. It’s the same thing, but with a different emotion. Being happy with someone is much easier, but being sad with someone is just as important, if not more so. Feeling badly is not something we always like to be there for because it’s uncomfortable, but if we want to be there to support our loved ones, we should be there for whatever and whenever they’re feeling. If you truly love someone, you’ll be there to help and feel with them even when it’s uncomfortable. There is a depth and strength of love that cannot be known unless you stick with someone through more than just the happy times.
Whether the emotions are positive or negative, comfortable or uncomfortable, enjoyable or undesirable, straightforward or mixed, happy, sad, angry, joyful, and everything in between, we should be there for those who need us.
