I’ve been thinking about a couple people in the Bible who aged much more than just gracefully, and I wonder what that must have been like to witness.
Moses lived to be 120 years old. When he died, the Bible says he was still in good condition. His eyesight was still good, and his vigor, or “freshness” as the Hebrew puts it, was still good (Deuteronomy 34:7).
Caleb was 40 years old when God told the children of Israel that only those 20 years old and younger would enter the Promised Land, but because Caleb had stood with God, he was still able to go in after waiting for 40 years. When he did, he was still able to claim his inheritance on his own, even at 80 years old (Joshua 14:7-14)!
We’ll see if it happens or not, but I’d like to age like that. I suppose I’ll have to let you know in a few decades.
