Round about a year ago, I was looking for a new job, a new place to live, and a new direction in my life. Now I have two jobs, a place to live, and enough direction to figure out where I should probably head from here. I’m probably going to sound like a broken record in this post given all I’ve been talking about lately, but I’m just so thankful to God and to the friends and church family around me that have been making sure I’m okay.
In a little more detail, my previous job as a live-in caregiver was done. The lady I used to look after needed more care than her husband and I could continue to give her. We got her her into a care home, and she passed within a month or so. Things were sad for a little while, but I had God and family and friends to help me through it, and for that I’m grateful.
Because I didn’t have a job, I was pretty sure most apartments wouldn’t want to rent to me since I had no verifiable income. I was almost technically homeless, but not really. My parents let me know I could move back in with them. They and several other people in my life weren’t going to let me live out of my car, no matter how much I was okay with it. I was in fact told by several people that I shouldn’t be living out of my car. Some people didn’t just say I shouldn’t, they said I won’t, making it very clear that they weren’t going to let me. I am very grateful for my family and church family for all this, and I’m very grateful to God for making sure I’m here with them. I was soon temporarily living with a widow from church, and it was a good time for both of us.
A bit into that February, I finally found a job as a teacher assistant in a special education class. I love this job so much! A few months later I got another job on the side as a piano teacher. I love this job so much, too! Somewhere between the two jobs, I moved into an apartment with my best friend, which as been great.
I still have some changes that will be going on, and this chapter of major transition my life is far from over, but God has blessed me with everything I need physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually, so I’m ready. Thank you, God!
