I’ve heard it said that actions speak louder than words. This is true, and I’ve seen it. If you say one thing and do another, then you are perceived as dishonest. If you don’t practice what you preach, then what good is your preaching?
If your words and your actions don’t agree with each other, then people will not listen to your words because they have been proven useless and untrustworthy. While you can certainly lie with your actions, your actions often tell more truth than your words do. While words are certainly important, they do little to no good without actions, and even then the actions are the part that does the good.
God Himself didn’t just say “I love you,” He showed it. So we ourselves ought to be people of action. (1 John 3:16-18 & 4:9-11) While your words are certainly known by others, people are known more by their actions than by their words. What are you known to do?
John 13:35 – “By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.”
