Being a Disciple

I have some sermon notes and thoughts from last night.

When you get saved, you are not automatically a disciple of Jesus Christ. Being a disciple is a choice you make to learn more about God and your relationship with Him. Being a follower of Jesus and a learner of Him requires a choice from you. It also doesn’t just happen because you want it. It requires work and sacrifice on your part.

So stay in God’s word. Continue in it (John 8:31). You don’t just read it a few times and then think you’ve got it now – you keep at it! As you do this, you will begin to notice a change in your behavior. You will love more (John 13:35). And you will bear much fruit (John 15:8).

Choose to follow Jesus and learn from Him. Keep doing what He has said to do. Then you’ll be His disciple.
