Coram Deo. This is a Latin phrase meaning “before the face of God.” Sometimes we forget that we live Coram Deo, literally in front of God, right where He can see us. (Proverbs 5:21 & 15:3)
Christians especially should be aware of this. I’m not saying that you need to look over your shoulder all the time thinking God is going to smack you upside the head for breathing funny. I’m saying that He knows exactly what you’re doing and exactly why you’re doing it (Proverbs 16:2 & 21:2). But much like doing things with a good friend around, if you have a close relationship with God you’ll do the right things and be comfortable with Him being there.
So whatever you’re doing, do it for God’s glory (1 Corinthians 10:31), and do it because you love God (Colossians 3:23-24).
