Defiling the Temple

God cares about your spirit. God cares about your soul. God cares about your mind. God cares about your emotions. God cares about your body. You, as a whole being, are created by Him and belong to Him. You, as a whole being, are loved by Him.

Further, in the Bible we are told that if you are saved, the Holy Spirit comes to dwell (or live) within you. God Himself lives inside you, on purpose. That this makes us God’s temple (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). We don’t belong to ourselves, we belong to God, and that is a wonderful, good, significant thing!

So if we ourselves and our very bodies are God’s temple, and that temple belongs to God, doesn’t that put a new perspective on what we do and how we act? What you do with your body, what you think about in your mind, what and how you feed your soul, do these belong in God’s temple? (1 Corinthians 3:16-17).
