In just a few days it will be Easter Sunday, the day when Jesus’ resurrection is celebrated!
Technically every Sunday is a celebration of that, but on this day there is more emphasis on it.
If Jesus didn’t come to earth in the first place (Christmas), He wouldn’t have died. If He hadn’t died, we would have no forgiveness for our sins because the punishment would not be paid for. But Jesus did come, and He did die. He GAVE His life (Matthew 20:28; Mark 10:45; John 19:10-11; Luke 23:46).
And He did rise again.
Jesus is God, so of course He can’t stay dead, or it would be proved that He wasn’t really the Son of God.
Do you know how important this is? If Jesus hadn’t come back to life, then we wouldn’t rise either (1 Corinthians 15:12-22). Jesus came because God loves us. God wants us to be able to have forgiveness, to be able to go to Heaven, to have peace with Him and to come near, to escape the death in which we would be eternally separated from Him (1 Timothy 2:4-6; 2 Peter 3:9).
God loves you so much, that He sent His own Son to die for you (John 3:16). And His Son willingly came, because He loves you that much.
