When gathering intelligence on an enemy, you need reliable information sources. For intel on our enemy, Christians have the most reliable source ever: God Himself. God knows everything there is to know about Satan, and has already conquered and defeated him! If there is anything that we need to know, God has it written in His Word, the Bible.
But why not go directly to our enemy for information? One, God has already told us what we need to know in His Word. Two, Satan is a murderer and a liar (John 8:44), and he wouldn’t tell the truth. In short, going to the enemy (or any other source, to which he has certainly lied) is incredibly dangerous, foolish, and unnecessary.
Now let’s talk about combat. We don’t fight; God does. God has already conquered and won, so let’s live like it! We don’t stand up to Satan on our own. God is the one who stands up and wins! Look at Zechariah 3:1-2 and Jude 9, then look at Ephesians 6:10-18. Notice how these verses talk about the Lord rebuking, and the armor of God. It is God’s strength that sends the devil packing, not ours.
