Before Jesus came to earth as a baby, God had already promised that Jesus would come. In the Old Testament of the Bible God said He would give something special, and gave us pictures as if hinting at what His gift would be.
Then for four hundred years God was silent. Four hundred years of silence from God are between the Old Testament and the New Testament. For this I have the mental picture of a parent going into their room and preparing a special gift for their child. No peeking. No more hints. I’ll give it to you when it’s ready.
Then there it was – the best gift! There was Jesus! There was God’s present for us! Surprise! I gave you what you need to be close to Me, and more than you’ll ever need or want!
