God doesn’t want you to be happy.
There, that’s a good way to start!
God doesn’t want you to be happy, He wants you to be holy. You should be more like God every day. You should consciously walk with Him every day. You should grow in faith and wisdom. Listen to Him, let Him teach you. Let Him make you and shape you into who you should be. (Romans 12:1-2; Colossians 3:1-3)
The more you look and act like God, the better things will be for you. Will you still have problems, sorrows, and troubles? Oh, absolutely! But when you walk with God they become easier to walk through.
God cares more about your holiness than about your happiness. But that’s because holiness is good for you. In the long run, if you become more holy you’re likely to be happier.
Even if you’re going through tough times to gain holiness, you’ll be better in the end. (Job 23:10; James 1:12; 1 Peter 1:7)
So put off all the old stuff, and put on the new stuff. (Colossians 3:5-15)
