A lot of people will say that they don’t believe in God and the Gospel because there isn’t enough evidence. But if someone really looks with an honest heart, they will find plenty of evidence. Much of the time it isn’t a lack of evidence as much as it is a love of evil. I mean, sin is fun! Otherwise we wouldn’t do it. But no one likes to be wrong, and everyone believes and just knows that they are generally good. Besides, everyone is so educated and intelligent these days, and with all this progressive knowledge, surely the idea of God is outdated and foolish.
The Gospel is a bunch of foolishness to people who don’t believe it. The Gospel is downright offensive. It is something that people trip over (1 Peter 2:7-8). But it is the wisdom of God (1 Corinthians 1:20-21 & 24).
As much as God’s gift of His Son, Jesus, sounds like a bunch of foolishness, it did actually happen because God does actually love us. God’s gift is readily available for anyone and everyone. But you have to agree with God about who you are first, and that is the part that hurts and offends.
So while the world calls them fools who believe in Jesus, the believers in Jesus know that the world is full of fools (1 Corinthians 1:18 & 23-24, 3:19). Now just because someone is foolish and you are wise does not mean that you get to be mean and haughty. That itself is foolish, and you must remember who you were before Jesus saved you and who you are to be now.
And you’d better lovingly share this wisdom of God! Because there is an eternal destination after we die, and we all die, wise and fools alike.
