So I’ve just recently watched Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Now it’s time for me to think about what I’ve learned. I give away a few movie lines and vaguely describe a scene here. I wouldn’t call this a huge spoiler, but just in case you want absolutely none, I am alerting you to it.
Luke has been discouraged. He has failed miserably, and has decided to call it quits. But then an old friend and teacher comes to figuratively and literally smack him upside the head with some wisdom. Part of the advice given was something I’ve heard many times in many different ways: “The greatest teacher, failure is.” While failure definitely has some undesirable consequences, we should learn from our failings and move on to do better, not sit in discouraged misery. No one likes to fail, and no one sets out trying to fail, but just because you have failed, that doesn’t mean that you can’t try again.
In life, we have all messed up. In life, we will all continue to mess up. But God Himself lets us try again, and God Himself can teach us through our failures. (1 John 1:9) God knows who you are and what you’ve done, and He loves you enough to let you keep trying. What’s even better is, God helps you try again! Let God teach you through your failures, and let Him help you move on to do better for His glory!
