This one goes a bit with Sandcastle Righteousness.
If I made a copy of the Mona Lisa out of macaroni, I would certainly be impressed with myself. You might even be impressed. But it’s macaroni, and it’s a copy. It has no real value, and it really isn’t as impressive as I’d like to think. It actually looks ridiculous when you really look at it. Is that a moustache, or is that just how the macaroni lays?
When it comes to making things or trying to be a good person, we humans can’t do anything other than copy God Himself. Unfortunately we can’t even copy correctly. We literally lack the ability and power. Sure we can do pretty well by our standards, but when you hold up what you and I have done against God’s originals, our stuff looks… well, at least maybe you can tell what it was supposed to be… for some of them.
But God has made a way for us to begin learning how to properly work His righteousness! Jesus made and became the art of righteousness! Jesus came to show us how it is done, not so we didn’t have to do it at all. When you get saved you are beginning your journey to be more like God. You’re working one-on-one with the Master Artist Himself on getting better and better!
