We all have past actions and choices that we regret. We have things about which we’re not proud. We have life experiences where we messed up. Sometimes we’d like to forget, or at least leave it in the past where it should be.
But isn’t it so easy to keep going back to a particular memory?
We often have a hard time with the past. Yes, your past choices have affected your present and may yet affect your future, but what’s done is done. You can’t go back and change it. But you can move forward with God’s guidance and let Him turn it into something good.
Remember your past and what you’ve learned from it, but don’t live there. The past is a good place to learn from, but it isn’t a good place to set up camp. Remember that God is good at taking the ugly and turning it into something beautiful. God can take the bad and change it to be something good later on (Romans 8:28). While it may be difficult, God can help you.
For a little extra encouragement, allow me to leave you with one of my favorite sayings:
“Get your behind out of the past and put the past behind you.”
