I wrote earlier this week on God’s voice being in His word, the Bible (God’s Voice in His Word). I want to continue by giving a reminder that while you must read God’s Word to know His voice, reading God’s Word is not the same as hearing His voice.

In the Bible Jesus talked about this to the Jews who wanted to kill Him. In John 5, specifically around verses 37-39, Jesus tells them that they have read the Scriptures, but they have not heard God’s voice. They had read all that God had to say, but had never really heard God speaking to them through His words.

When we read the Bible we are reading God’s words, but we must pursue a relationship with God and listen purposefully in order to hear His voice as we read His words. God means to tell you something. Do you mean to listen?
