Going to church to learn the Bible is something we’re all supposed to do. Studying the Bible in groups outside of church attendance is good to do. But sometimes we forget the we need to do some studying on our own, too.
If the Bible is our spiritual food, then we should treat it like food. Unless you’re fasting, you don’t eat just once a week or only with friends, you eat every day, and if no one is there you eat by yourself. Unless you’re spoiled, you don’t only eat food that someone else prepared, and if there’s no one there you make it yourself. Studying the Bible is something we should all be doing on our own time.
Children sometimes can’t make their own food, but as they grow they learn to. If we are maturing properly in Christ, we should be able to make our own sandwiches when we’re hungry.
