I know that you should have a “healthy fear” of some things so that you don’t hurt yourself with stupidity, but there are some things that people are afraid of for what looks like no reason. I don’t understand why some people afraid of the things that they are. I’m genuinely curious. What scares you and why?
One of the fears I don’t understand is clowns. It’s just someone in face paint and a colorful costume. The only thing mildly scary about them to me as a kid was the fact that they were strangers. But if my parents were cool with them, then so was I.
The dark isn’t really that scary to me, either, but I know why it can be scary – just because you can’t see something doesn’t mean it isn’t there. A lot of people are afraid of what they can’t see. The same things are in the dark that are there in the light, but now you can’t see them and you don’t know what they will do. It might just be your imagination most of the time. I promise your furniture does not dance around a dark room while you’re in there. They wait until you leave so you don’t trip over each other.
Just kidding about that last sentence. Nothing like a little… “dark” humor, right?
But when it comes to fears, reasonable or not, everyone has them. Some people have them because they don’t know that there is nothing to be afraid of, and some people have them because they can’t help it.
But God can help it. All you have to do is ask Him for help. He may take your fear away right off the bat, or He may help you through a process. Whichever case will help you best is the one that He will choose. Just trust Him, because you can. God is bigger than any and all of your fears. Get to know God more. You’ll find out just how big He is.
The bigger and stronger you know God to be, the smaller your fears and problems will get. Why? Because God can handle this. God has more than enough ability to do whatever He wants with the things that you fear. God did not create you to be fearful. God created you to know that He loves you. Fear has torment, but there is no fear in love. Perfect love casts out fear. (I John 4:18) Let God do wonders for you. Let Him take away your fears and worries. He cares. (I Peter 5:7) God is on your side. (Psalm 118:6)
God is big, strong, and mighty. There is no fear that He can’t drive away.
