In James chapter 2 we read about faith and works. Faith and works do go together. If you really believe what you say you believe, it will be readily apparent in your actions. Go read James 2:14-26, and then read Philippians 2:12-13.
So when you say you have faith, can people see it? Is it being worked out? Because just like physically working out, faith requires purposeful movement through weight and resistance, and it must be done regularly to have effect. It requires you to keep going when it would really be easier to stop and have a metaphorical doughnut. But remember, it isn’t your strength that you need to lean on (Philippians 2:13). God is right there, teaching you how to use those muscles and helping you do so.
If you really believe what you say you believe, you won’t just be in the spiritual gym, you’ll be out there actually using what you’ve learned and practiced to accomplish real goals with God.
So here’s a good question for us to ask ourselves, “How’s the work out going?”
