Many times in the Bible we are told to praise, honor, and/or glorify God. But what does that really mean? God doesn’t require His ego to be stroked or inflated. We don’t have something that He lacks. God doesn’t need anything at all from us; He is self-existent. So what’s the point of giving Him glory?
As I heard it explained at church, “giving glory to God” does not mean we’re giving him something that He lacks, it means we are acknowledging who and what He is. God is glorious and awesome! God is worthy of worship and praise! The more you learn about God, what He’s done, and how much He truly loves and cares about us, the more you will naturally praise and glorify God out of gratitude and joy.
