The last post didn’t have room for what I wanted to share from second missionary on Sunday evening, so here it is. He spoke from Matthew 9:35-10:16 about laborers for the harvest.

The missionary pointed out that when Jesus said in Matthew 9:38 to “pray” the Lord of the harvest would send forth laborers, that word “pray” in the original Greek literally means to beg. We should be begging God to send laborers into the harvest, for God to send people to carry the Gospel far and wide!

Right after Jesus told His disciples that they should do this, He sent them out to labor (Matthew 10:1-16). The missionary then asked a pointed question: Could it be that we don’t beg God to send laborers because we’re afraid He’ll send us?

Never mind that we are laborers anyway! All of us who are saved have been given the Great Commission (Acts 1:6-11), so we are all laborers! Are we willing to go work? Are we going to be lazy? We all have people to reach, so are we in the field working?
