Sometimes I like to ask spiritual and theological questions that don’t necessarily matter, but are fun to talk about. It often gets some interesting theological discussions going, especially when you get together with pastors, missionaries, or other Bible nerds. For example:
If aliens exist, would they have had the same kind of rebellion and fall that we humans had? Would God have done something similar for them that He did for us? Would it have been different for them entirely? Would they be like the fallen angels that don’t get a second chance? What if they hadn’t rebelled against God and have never needed a redemptive plan? Are we ever meant to discover each other? What would interactions with them look like? What if they’re not aliens the way we thought, but are other humans?
Since God knows everything and exists outside of time, what if He’s also keeping track of alternate realities? How does He look at time-travel if it’s possible? If I were to time-travel to Jesus’ day and see Jesus, would He look at me with a smirk and say in perfect English, “What are you doing here?”?
Given God’s creativity with just the physical realm and how Heaven is completely different from life as I currently know it, what new things will there be in Heaven? Will there be new colors and new sounds in Heaven? Will there be new sensations that I’ve never been able to comprehend while in physical form? What new things will there be for us to do there? Will I have a vineyard and some horses? Will there be new animals or none at all? Will there be new musical instruments and new music theory? Do I get to play and compose in the heavenly orchestra? Will I be able to fly? If there are aliens, will they be there, too? What will it feel like to have no inkling of or slightest penchant towards sin? Most importantly, what will it be like to be in the full, unveiled presence of God?
