Last night at church we had a missionary speaking. He and his family are from Mexico and are serving God in Kansas. We had a translator for him, and as I sat listening, two things stuck out more than anything else.
One, the phrase, “Haz lo correcto!” or, “Do what is right!” That’s literally all you have to do. When God tells you something, then do it! When you know the right thing to do, then do it! Following Jesus may not always be easy, but it is very simple; just do the right thing! You are more than free to make that choice!
Two, I understood more Spanish than I used to. Over the years we’ve had Spanish-speaking missionaries at church, and because I’ve been learning Spanish, I understand a little more each time. But this was the first time I understood most of what was said before it was translated. The words are still Spanish and are still teaching from the Bible, but I understood them. This got me thinking about how I understand the Bible. The words have always been the same and have always taught the same thing, but because I’ve been studying and learning, I understand better now. The words haven’t changed, I just understand them more and more as I keep myself immersed in them. If you want to understand the Bible more, keep reading and studying it all the time!
