Not everything negative that happens to us is because of Satan. God very often uses uncomfortable and negative circumstances in our lives to point us where we need to be.
For example, when the early church was started (see the book of Acts), it was mostly hanging around in Jerusalem and not going very far. Jesus had told His disciples that the Gospel is for literally everyone far and wide, so when persecution came (or perhaps was sent) to the early Christians, some of them left Jerusalem and went to other places, taking the Gospel with them and sharing it wherever they went. While persecution was definitely difficult and had negative effects, God still provided for His believers and still made something good come out of the problem.
For another example, some of the kids at the Amazing Grace Children’s Home. I’ve written about this before in Third Trip to AGCH. One of the kids there directly told me that he wouldn’t change any of the circumstances in his past because those were the things that pointed him to the Children’s Home where he met Jesus Christ.
Just because you’re going through a difficult time doesn’t necessarily mean you’re being disciplined or have fallen out of God’s will; sometimes it’s just the best way for your course to go for God’s ultimate glory and your ultimate good. If you want some more encouragement on this topic, read Romans 8.
