I’ve talked about things like this before, but it’s always good to talk about them again.

An injury or a wound can happen in a number of ways and because of a number of things. You and I can be visibly physically wounded, and we can be wounded in non-physical ways that no one can physically see. It doesn’t matter what kind of injury you have, a wound is a wound, regardless of where on the being it is.

The best way I have of understanding and explaining a non-physical wound is by comparing it to a physical one, since God set up a lot of non-physical things along the same lines as physical ones. Whether you’re the one wounded or someone else, you need to realize that it’s going to take some time to heal. It might even need specialized help and care instead of just a regular do-it-yourself bandage. We don’t expect someone with a broken leg to walk it off, so we shouldn’t expect someone with trauma to just stop feeling bad about it. Just like a physical injury takes some time and special care, so does a non-physical one.
